Two-storied Victorian-style home, situated on the ocean side of the street, overlooking Kailua Bay. It was originally built in 1838 by Big Island governor John Adams Kuakini, and served as a vacation home for monarchs until 1916. It now houses a museum, with a good collection of Royal Hawaiian koa furniture and other ancient Hawaiian artifacts. Informative tours offered daily, every hour. The museum is open Mon.-Fri. 9am-4pm, Sat.-Sun. 10am-4pm. Admission fee: $6.00 adults, $1.00 children (under 18).
